Variations of Domino

You can play this classic tile game with friends, family, or the CPU. There are many ways to play Domino, from choosing different tables and tiles to getting a six-pip set, and each version includes wonderful music. You can also challenge yourself with different variations of the game. There are two main types of games – one is played against an opponent and the other is played against the CPU. Here is a look at both types of games.

Five-Up domino

A point-type domino game played with a Double-Six set, Five-Up is most commonly played with two to four players. The game is often played with a cribbage board for scoring. Five-Up is related to Fives, but it is different from that game. Five-Up was invented by Dominic C. Armanino, a former president of the International Domino Association (IDA). The game is similar to the popular Threes, Fives, and Sevens domino games.

The objective of Five-Up domino is to match as many tiles as possible to the scoreboard. To do this, players have to match the ends of dominoes that are on the table. Each player scores one point for each multiple of five. This game is played to 100 or 200 points. To play with a partner, both players must be seated across from one another. However, some players don’t count the spinner value when counting points.

Spinner dominoes

A fun twist on classic dominoes, Spinner Dominoes has easy-to-learn rules and unique spinner dominoes. As you play, you must aim to clear all tiles from your hand, and then take turns drawing tiles from the draw pile. The objective of the game is to reach a score of 100. The game is played with two players, and it requires seven tiles per player. The game requires 66 tiles total, including the double-nine dominoes and the eleven spinner tiles.

Spinner is played with two to eight players. The game has 10 rounds. Every player starts with seven dominoes. The player with the double spinner, or double nine, goes first. If no dominoes are available, he/she must draw from the extra pile. Otherwise, the player goes first. The player with the highest score wins the round. Spinner has received a five-star rating on Amazon.

Doublet domino

In Doublet domino, players attempt to match a tile with a certain number, color, or word. Each tile must be played at an angle, and doublets cannot be played at the same angle as a neighboring tile. Doublets are laid across the chain direction and counted by the total spots on each doublet. When two doublets match, the player receives a point. In addition, players can reverse play to play a game backwards.

The highest DOUBLET goes first, and the player to his left must ask if his doublet is the highest. When the player is the first to ask whether a Doublet is found, the player to his or her left is allowed to play a domino with the same number on both sides. If no doublet is found, the player to his or her left draws a domino with an equal value on both sides, and the player to his or her left plays.

Private train

If you’re not a big fan of private trains, you may want to consider a different style of domino game. Private train dominoes are unique in that they require you to play down a signal before you can play down a private train domino. This tactic can limit the play of other players and keep them from forming private trains. It also discourages them from playing down dominoes by making them resemble a regular train.

A private train starts off as a private domino, so the player who owns it may play only on that train. Once the train reaches its endpoint, however, other players cannot play on it. This player then draws a domino from the draw pile. If the draw matches the double, the player may play down the domino immediately. Otherwise, the player who played down the private train must wait until his turn to play down the remaining domino.
